Megan Shane is a metal sculptor and jeweler. Her artistic practice was shaped early by an inspiring teacher and time spent in her father’s steel fabrication shop, where she learned to weld as a young girl.
Working primarily with steel and reclaimed materials, Megan combines traditional tools with digital technologies to create works that explore connection, community, light, and nature.
Heart of the Grove is made from mild carbon steel using welded, plasma-cut, and hand-finished elements with a rust patina. Three dogwoods serve as the central motif, each representing an archetypal stage of a woman’s life — the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone — expressed through varying states of bloom and transformation. Intertwined branches and deep roots speak to interdependence, resilience, and the strength found through connection.

The dogwood carries special resonance on Peg’s campus, where the American Dogwood was Peg Morgan’s favorite flower and is woven into the Foundation’s identity.
Look for the hidden hearts throughout the design – they invite reflection.
